The Corfu International Festival "brings" the Scala of Milan to Corfu...! The renowned musical ensemble Cameristi della Scala meets on stage, in the role of conductor, conductor Dionysis Grammenos, internationally recognized as one of the most charismatic artists of his generation. They are joined by mezzo-soprano Rosa Bove.

An evening of music dedicated to the Italian Baroque with works by Vivaldi, Durante, Geminiani and Corelli in the atmospheric Palace of Saints Michael and George in the imposing Hall of Throne. A musical experience that will take us back in time to the ballrooms of the palaces.

The orchestra...

An orchestra that needs no special introduction. Founded in 1982, the Cameristi della Scala Chamber Orchestra of La Scala was made up of musicians from the orchestra of the legendary theatre of the same name and collaborates with well-known opera musicians and singers, with a repertoire of great chamber music and works by lesser-known Italian composers from the 18th century to the present day. In 2012, the Region of Milan awarded the "Isimbardi Prize", reserved for institutions which, thanks to their international activity, contribute to spreading the reputation of Milan. With performances in the world's most important theatres and concert halls, they have had solid collaborations with artists such as Maxim Vengerov, Gautier Capuçon, David Fray, Renaud Capuçon, Francesco Piemontesi and Maria João Pires.

Orchestra Director...

Artistic Director of the Corfu International Festival, founder and Artistic Director of the Hellenic Youth Symphony Orchestra (ELSON), Dionysis Grammenos started his international career in 2008 by winning the First Prize at the EBU (European Broadcasting Union) "European Young Soloist Competition" in Vienna and the title of "European Young Musician of the Year", the first wind instrument musician in the history of the competition to receive this title.  Since then, he has been awarded several honorary prizes ("European Young Leader", 2018, by the think-tank Friends of Europe, International Arts Award "Leonardo Da Vinci", "Rising Star" of ECHO-European Concert Hall Organisation) and the Gold Medal of the City of Athens for his contribution to music. Both as a conductor and soloist, he has collaborations with some of the world's leading orchestras (Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Canadian Opera in Toronto, the Chamber Orchestra of La Scala di Milano, etc.). ), with performances in historic halls such as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Berlin Philharmonic, London's Barbican Center and the Vienna Concert Hall, among others, performing some of the greatest masterpieces of music history. His musical brilliance and presence on the podium have sparked the interest of the music community.

The mezzo-soprano...

Mezzo-soprano Rosa Bove, who has been noted for her vocal skills as much as her distinctive tone of voice having identified with the baroque repertoire, comes to add her own touch to the evening's musical palette. With appearances in some of the world's greatest opera classics in the world's greatest lyric theatres, she has made a name for herself with collaborations such as this one with Cecilla Bartoli and the Deutsche Grammophon live recording of Pergolesi's "Confitebor tibi domine" with the Mozart Orchestra conducted by Claudio Abbado.

An artistic collaboration of the highest level, one that we rarely have the opportunity to enjoy in our country for a single performance at the Corfu International Festival.

On Friday 14 October, all eyes are on Corfu.
