The award-winning Corfu Children's Choir presents a special festive programme of choral works from around the world on Sunday, 18 December at the Palace of Saints Michael & George as part of the Corfu International Festival.

Customary songs and carols, as well as works from the wider choral repertoire from the Baroque to the present day, specially written for Children's-Youth voices, in different languages, will ring in Christmas interpreted with the purity, dynamism and spontaneity of children.

The choir is accompanied on the piano by Giorgos Kyriazidis and conducted by Christina Kalliaridou.

A concert with warmth, gold dust, glow, happiness, and love. All those things that characterize Christmas. 

CORFU CHILDREN'S CHOIR

The Corfu Children's Choir was established in October 2010. In addition to the main body of the Choir, there are also the Preparation I and II sections, as well as a Boys' Choir. It has performed at the 8th Aegean Festival in Syros (2012), the 4th Children's Choir Festival at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall (2014), the 14th Patmos Religious Music Festival (2014), the Herodeion (2014), the Athens Concert Hall (2017), the International Easter Festival in Sofia (2019).

He has received the following awards:

1.Highest distinction (outstanding success) at the international competition festival Summa cum Laude in Vienna (July 2018).

2.Grand Prix and gold diploma at the Claudio Monteverdi International Competition Festival in Venice (July 2017).

3.Gold Diploma at the 1st International Competition Festival of Interkultur in Kalamata (October 2015).

4.Silver Diploma at the corresponding Interkultur competition festival in Corfu (October 2016).

The Corfu Children's Choir has performed with the Rosarte Children's-Youth Choir, the Children's-Youth Choir of Polyphonic Patras, the Jacksonville Children's Chorus (Florida, USA), the Children's/Youth Choir of the Municipality of Heraklion, Crete, as well as the Symphony Orchestra of the Corfu Philharmonic Society under the direction of Alkis Baltas and the ERT Symphony Orchestra. Parts of the Corfu Children's Choir have collaborated with the Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University as laboratory choirs.

In October 2018, the Corfu Children's Choir recorded three songs for the musical needs of two English BBC TV series, "The Durrells" and "Victoria" with music by Ruth Barrett.

In March 2019, the Children's Choir presented its first recording project with pieces of religious and secular music from its repertoire and with the general title "Adorabile".

In July 2020, the Corfu Children's Choir presented its second recording, participating in the cd "Sunflowers" with music by Alkis Baltas, performing his 8 a cappella songs, entitled "Offering to Mother", with poetry by Galatea Baltas.

In July 2021, the Corfu Children's Choir recorded 16 traditional songs of Corfu for the creation of a digital album, which is currently being released.

The Corfu Children's Choir operates as a laboratory choir of the students of the specialization of the Direction of Children's, School and Youth Choir of the TMS of the Ionian University.

The Corfu Children's Choir has been directed by Christina Kalliaridou since its foundation.
