The internationally renowned soprano Christina Poulítsi and pianist Dimitris Yiakas in a recital dedicated to Maria Callas, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of her birth.

The Corfu International Festival presents on Saturday, June 24, at 21:00 in Plakada, the internationally acclaimed soprano Christina PouliItsi and pianist Dimitris Yiakas in a recital dedicated to Maria Callas, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of her birth.

The program includes the most beloved arias of Italian bel canto, which Maria Callas has engraved with her interpretation.

Christina Poulitsi, as a scholarship recipient of the organization established by Maria Callas to support young Greek artists in perfecting their studies, including the "Alexandra Trianti" scholarships, studied at the University of Arts in Berlin.

Having the famous Maestro Zubin Meta as her mentor, she began her career with a recommendation letter from him to the State Opera of Dresden, and since then has appeared in some of the world's greatest theaters, such as the Royal Opera in London, the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, the Opera of Rome, Paris, Berlin, Hamburg, Barcelona, Tokyo, Zurich, Seattle, and more.

She is considered one of the best performers of the role of the Queen of the Night in the world and has performed with great success roles of Italian bel canto, such as Lucia di Lammermoor in the first co-production of the National Opera of Greece with the Royal Opera in London, Violetta Valéry in Hamburg, Gilda in Florence, Athens Festival, Aida, Pamira, and others, as well as German and French repertoire, such as Manon Lescaut in Athens Festival and Konstanze with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, The Nightingale by Stravinsky, and more.

She has collaborated with very important conductors, such as Zubin Meta, Gianandrea Noseda, Michele Mariotti, Christian Thielemann, and directors Barry Kosky, Katie Mitchell, Roberto Abbado, Arturo Marelli, and more.

Her future plans include performances with Plácido Domingo, her debut as Elvira in Bellini's I Puritani, as well as her first official recording of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana with the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Gianandrea Noseda.
