Museum of Philharmonic Society of Corfu (PSC)

The Museum outlines the history of the Philharmonic Society of Corfu which was founded in September of 1840 by a group of music-loving Corfiot citizens. Contributed to the development of art music (orchestral music with elements from Greek folk rhythm and melody) in the Ionian Islands and Greece in the 19th century and was soon established as a model for other similar musical organizations. At the same time, we honor the top Corfiot composer Nikolaos Chalkiopoulos Mantzaros (1795-1872).
