The Corfu International Festival presents Ilias Sakalak's photography exhibition from 11 to 25 November.

Grand opening: Saturday 11 November at 18:30, at the Ionian Parliament.

"Creating a portrait is for me a revealing rite of passage. The magic lies in the fact that each shoot is different, depending on the personality of the person I am photographing.

Apart from the spontaneous and not at all staged moments that I am touched to capture with my lens, I like to plan every detail in advance when it comes to shooting a portrait of a musician. It depends on who I want to photograph and what I want to emphasize about their personality or the instrument they play. Every instrument has a soul that is activated by the soul of the musician. My goal is always to capture exactly that in a photograph.

The minimalist approach is also a challenge for me. Focusing for example on the face of the Musician by using only one element of the instrument they are playing.

I really love what I'm doing at the moment it's happening. I love music. I'm in love with photography. At the same time. So just as in life love over time morphs into deep love over time I feel the same is happening with me. Blessed because I feel love and love at the same time."
