EMPTY SPACE

The choreographer Olivia Thanasoula and the d.OT. company present the dance performance "EMPTY SPACE" at the Corfu International Festival on Friday 20 October at 21:00 at the Municipal Theatre of Corfu.

Olivia Thanasoula, opening the lights of her world, exposes us to a scene that is already in progress. She sketches the moment when man is confronted with his fears and his simultaneous inability to control what is happening.

The choreographer uses the "EMPTY SPACE" and gestures as choreographic tools to express the emptiness that is created within us and in our interpersonal relationships after some great loss, due to deep pain and the upheaval of our balance, while in between she lists the attempts to recover our powers and reconstruct our reality.

This void fluctuates repeatedly in our lives, forcing us to play with it and fill it each time from the beginning, until we come to terms with this process and adapt to it, "just like an endless vicious cycle of creation and destruction".

The kinesiological research and purpose is for dancers to move as a single organism/body but made up of smaller autonomous units.
