THE YOUTH OF THE OPERA

Tonight's concert -an opera gala with arias and ensembles from the classical lyrical repertoire- takes its name from the "The Youth of the Opera" training program in which the evening's soloists participated at the beginning of their careers. "The Youth of the Opera" was an initiative of the National Opera of Greece with the distinguished tenor Vagelis Chatzisimos in charge of the program and artistic planning and Michalis Papapetrou as the chief musician, with the main objective of offering young artists, who have completed their studies, the opportunity to take their first professional steps and test themselves in a real working environment, in order to gain significant experience under the guidance and supervision of renowned artists and professionals. The skills they received during their participation in this program have helped them substantially to become trained professionals, fully responsive to the modern requirements of the Lyric Theatre.
