Two extremely impressive chamber music works for piano, violin and cello, written by two outstanding german composers, Mendelssohn and Brahms, whose music has left its mark on the romantic repertoire.

The piano trio by F. Mendelssohn in D minor, written in 1839, was described in its final form by R. Schumann as a masterpiece of the period. It is one of the composer's most popular chamber music works and, together with his String Octet op.20, has been recognized as one of the most important.

Οn the piano trio by J. Brahms in B major, a gentle musical meditation that begins initially focused on the piano, followed by an ethereal commentary on the strings. The central part of the work, with its tripartite form, is brought together in a tender, melancholy song first by the cello and then by the piano and violin in musical passages that sound sombre, even haunting. The work was completed in 1854, when Brahms was only 20 years old.
