The Athens Classical Players meet the rising star - violin soloist George Banos and set up a magical musical evening, open to the public, inaugurating the Corfu International Festival on Thursday 1 September at the picturesquely beautiful Placada of Agios Spyridon.
An artistic partnership through which the public will have the opportunity to enjoy a popular programme including Antonio Vivaldi's "4 Seasons" and famous works by the Argentine tango composer Astor Piazzola.
All members of the ensemble are permanent members of the Athens State Orchestra strings and with George Mandylas as sextet leader, they study and perform without a conductor, adopting a soloistic approach, both in terms of their thorough knowledge of the score and in their choice of performance practice, something that emerges effortlessly and clearly during their performance. Through their love for the constant search and interpretation of important works of musical creation, they compose a musical tour and guide us through a world with the materials of the music of the great composers as raw material.
Violin soloist George Banos, a fellow of the Barenboim-Said Academy of Music in Berlin, at the age of only 23 has managed to stand out with his musical journey, with important collaborations and a demanding repertoire to his credit.
The Corfu International Festival "opens its gates" with an evening of high virtuosity, against the backdrop of the enchanting backdrop of Agios Spyridon's Placada.
